“Baby”
My first MG was a 1965 red MGB. I purchased it in Hawaii in 1972. Sold it when I left in 1974. I loved that car. 35 years later the opportunity to purchase this vehicle presented itself. I didn't hesitate. My resto man, Greg Jones ( MG Works ) has done a fantastic job so far on the restoration. I'm still trying to get it as close to original as possible. She's still far from perfect, but I haven't stopped "SMILING". Now if I could just talk my wife into going back to Hawaii.

This is an extremely lovely example of an early B. I'm not surprised you haven't stopped smiling. Not only a joy to look at but I'm sure it's a real pleasure to drive.

Great looking car, where did you get the sun visors?

Comment by Gary Brown
Thanks Adam, the visors are an Amco period accessory. I picked them up on eBay, cost me an arm and a leg.

I liked how you paid attention to the small details. Correct colors etc. You did not stray from the original specs.
Nicely done, really shows well.

Thank you for the kind words. I have never shown the car as I use it as a daily driver and run it pretty hard. One of these days when a show passes through I may detail it enough to enter it and try to get one of those awesome badges. Your car is a beauty, indeed! It brings back memories of my '67 B and BGT both of which I had from 1978 through 1985. Absolutely loved them both and still wish I had them. '62 to '67 are by far the best B's ever even though they have their quirks and 3-synchro gearboxes. Gotta love 'em!

Beautiful car. Just the way an MGB should look if it is to be a show car. Daily drivers are another story.

Thanks Greg. I drive this car all the time. Over 8K miles in the last two years. She likes to run too much to just look at her. The wife and I drive to all the shows.

Gary, WOW Great car - I guess we have a few things in common, I'm going in the same direction w/ my '63B it too is Iris Blue w/ the same top & interior but far from your quality at this point . If you would- 1.Where Did you source the Stow away top? 2.Did your model come w/ the Blue passenger side map pocket by the feet? 3.Am I correct in assuming that the light bar goes on 1st behind the bumper?
2012-03-25 11:25:39 # 5330
Comment by Gary Brown
Thanks Timothy. I got the top and the map pocket from PJM Motors in the UK. Yes the light bar mounts behind the bumper.

Ian, you don't see many over here with the whitewalls either. I used an early advertisement as my inspiration during restoration. The car in the ad had the wide whites.

Lovely car, Gary. I like this colour on an MGB. BMC must have too as that was their MGB ad campaign car when they introduced them to the US. I have the R&T and C&D magazines where they have the centerfold ad with iris blue car like yours.

Gary - fantastic. Maybe one of the best looking cars on the site! The 65 is the best of all worlds as far as I'm concerned. Pull handles, 3 synch with O/D and 5-main. Perfect combination.

Beautiful car, then again I am partial to light blue cars since I am a Tarheel and UNC graduate. Searching for a nice B so I can start reliving my youth now that I am retiring.
