Nice work! Did you rent a sand blaster? Also I was under the assumption that if you epoxy primed etch primer was not required.

I own a Body Shop, but do not work there. When you strip to bare metal you must etch prime before epoxy. The acid in the etch primer helps to adhere to the metal much better than the epoxy. As for the Blaster I have an industrial rig with a big diesel compressor. Also to air cooled hood. It makes it much easier and faster.

I am getting ready to repaint a 1964 MG Midget. Does the body have to be taken down to the metal or can I get by with a good sanding and repainting. I have been hearing that the new paints will not adhere well to the old type of paint.

Depends on what paint is on it. Acrylic enamel is the worst. It's a small body so I would chemical strip or sand it if possible. Then etch prime and epoxy prime. If it's the original paint just sanding and priming will work well. An orbital DA sander works well to sand. If you have the tools and time it's great. If you have a local club you may find some members with the tools and help you need. Good Luck

Nice one. Sounds similar to my 68 GT. Mechanicals appear sound but lots of body issues. I've currently folded the harness out of the way. Engine/tranny are out. Front/rear axles next. Hoping to degrease and paint engine this weekend :-). Will try to post pic when I can find out how :-?

Thanks David, I think a boat is more of a bottomless pit than the car but I enjoy the project.
