I finally got the rebuilt motor and O/D Trans installed . Started running all new Stainless Steel lines for Fuel, & Brakes. Trying to get it done for March British Motoring Show in New Orleans.

Motor And O/D Trans Rebuild

Picked up the Motor and transmission ( Blue Label) from BMC Restorations in Kiln, Ms . New performance rebuild with Lucas 25D distributor, Weber 32/36 Intake and Mowog Exhaust manifold.
Added a custom performance cam as well. Ready to drop in .

Painting Fender Bolts And Washers, Etc.

I have found a way to paint the bolts and flat washers in order to re-assemble the parts with original bolts while car is in pieces. I mount the bolts onto a plastic cardboard and the flat washers on pegboard with plastic anchors. Also did some powder-coating on parts.

That's a slick idea with the pegboard and anchors. Also good to reuse the original hardware, I bought fender mounting kits and they are not like original at all in my opinion.

Yes Eric, I wanted the ORIGINAL bolts and washers, but when you paint it in pieces you have to find a way to paint the bolts and washers and not mar the finish when tightening. I use a Metric socket so it is a bit larger with a silicon tape over the heads. .As you saw the bolts were on cardboard with aluminum foils tape. It holds up better to the paint and primers and I do the same for powder-coating. The aluminum is my ground conductor connecting all parts to the grid. Slick Idea I came up with after trying to use jumpers on every oneThe pegboard and anchors I came up with to get paint over more of the washers and not have to peal them off when dry. The screw in the center and anchors can be re-used.. Good Luck with yours. I have a long way to go before I am done with this one.

Finally Got Some Paint On The Shell. Champagne Metallic

After 3 years I finally have the body painted. It's beautiful in this Champagne Metallic. Can't wait to start re-assembly. Will try to get the suspension on this weekend if the weather holds out. Once it's a rolling chassis I can start doing the details.

Engine And Trans Off To Be Rebuilt

I dropped off my engine to Peter Braun (Kiln, MS.) for a complete rebuild. It was fine but not enough horses under the bonnet.
Adding forged pistons with higher compression, Aluminum head with hardened seats and stainless valves, matching camshaft, etc.
O/D Trans will be checked and rebuilt if needed along with the O/D unit. Once it is all complete with new water pump, starter,clutch kit etc. it should run like a new car should. Hopefully I can add an oil cooler and new AC compressor with aluminum radiator and dual fans to keep it running cool on those hot southern days.
Though I will have about 20K invested into this car I know it is not worth that much but it's a gift for my wife which makes it PRICELESS !

Sandblasting Complete, Now The Fun Begins

Finally finished sandblasting the doors, fenders, rear axle and front suspension. Soon the etch primer and epoxy primer will be done and then the fun of sanding and blocking begins. Stay tuned for how a Big Budget build is done.

Looking good Dale. I am soon to start blasting my BGT also although I will only be looking to do the engine bay and some parts of the chassis and underbody. I think I will DA the body as limited rust so not going all back to bare metal.What do you recommend for blasting? I was thinking glass bead or alum oxide to cut into the metal and remove as much rust as possible. I need to get a rotisserie!!!

Construction sand FINE is good and cheap. Glass beads is for engine parts.If you are just doing the engine bay you don't need a rotisserie. It just makes everything easier to get to.
