My dad and I bought this truck from my uncle when he closed his Brit car repair shop in Phoenix after 30 years. A gentleman had come in with a Landie needing an engine rebuild, and offered him this truck in trade for doing the job. When my uncle went over to get it, he realized how long it had been sitting in the guy's back yard, as a tree brach had grown in one window and out the other side!

The truck is an original Arizona vehicle, which means it is bone-dry, but absolutely sun-baked. Every "soft" item on the truck was totally destroyed by the sun, which isn't too bad, as there aren't many soft items on Landies. It still wears its original paint, and a pritine sticker on the front fender from 1969 showing that the owner was a member of the 'Tactical Air Command' on Luke Air Force Base. The truck never had a hardtop, and was sold new with a soft top only, and a fold down tailgate.

My uncle practically gave us the truck, and it was supposed to be a fun father/son project. That was 10-11 years ago, and we didn't accomplish much until recently. Starting in early-2012, we have started making a concerted effort, and are now making good progress.

The pictures don't do this truck justice....there aren't many straighter or drier (is that a word?) unrestored early Land Rovers out there. The frong fender is unbolted to get to the master cylinders, so it looks wonky.

That will be a very nice truck when you are done. I finished my '62 last August but given what
I had to start with, I had to impose limits on my expectations. I did do a lot of research and
scrounging to get all of the bits and assembly details right. I'd be happy to try to answer any
questions or send any detail photos to help you as you go. I'd say you are over "the hump"
and will be surprised at how fast it all comes together after this!

I think they look better when they're a little beat up

The IIA is one of my favorite vehicles of all time - maybe if I owned one that would change but I doubt it. Yours looks like it'll be good for another 50 years or more.
