-> You'll get different opinions on oil change intervals. I tend to
-> believe in 3000 mile intervals myself.

3000 is good. Some people use longer intervals. I wouldn't worry as
much about the interval as much as I would just getting it done on some
sort of regular basis.

After a few years working on cars I came to the conclusion most
vehicles hit the junkyard with the same oil they left the factory with,
plus however many quarts it required to keep the oil light off most of
the time.

I've been called somewhat neurotic about this by my friends, but I
change my oil every 3000 miles. However, I run synthetic oil (Mobil
1 15W50) and I also change the filter every 3000 miles. Neurotic or
not, how many folks do you know that drag race a motor with 160,000
miles on it and still have compression readings in the 145 to 152
psi range?

I have an '86 Saleen with multiple Northern California
Autocross titles and only 82k miles.

I change oil every 3000 miles, and filter:
Redline 5-30 @ $7/qt. and a Fram HP filter @ $8.

I wish I knew my compression values. I mostly commute
8 miles twice a weekday at ~60 mph, and park it on
weekends (except for autocrosses).
