Hello Fellow Mustangers,
Over the spring break I purchased a 9in axle housing for my 65
Mustang. I noticed that the axel tubes are a little bit bigger in diameter
than my 8in axel housing tubes. The 8in rear end tubes are around 2 1/2
inches in diameter and the 9in tubes are around 3 inches in diameter. So,
I am looking for larger diameter U-bolts and a shock mount plates to
accomodate them. The problem is that I don't know where to find them. I
had been wondering if I can get them of of some other car but I don't know
which car has similar specifications to my 65 Mustang.
I don't have a carrier for my rear end. I know that finding a
carrier is no problem, but I don't know what gear to run. I was thinking
of going for either 3.50 or 3.70 gear ratio. Considering that I have a C-4
will I be revving too much on the highway?
One more thing, right now I am pretty much broke. Going to a
University basically drains my wallet dry. So, I really don't have the
money to spend on a super performance 3rd member. Come summer time when I
start working I will have the money. But for now I was thinking of pulling
out a 3rd member from a Granada or something with positive traction. I
basically want something cheap with positive traction and a decent gear
ratio. Where can I find that -- Granada? Versailles? etc.
