Ok People,
Don't laugh, but I just helped a friend change the front disc pads. We were
done in 1/2 an hour. When we tried to do the drums, we couldn't get the
damn drums off the hub. We removed the rubber gasket, and could see the
adjustment cog. It seemed that if you pushed in on one piece, we were able
to turn the cog. We turned the cog by pushing the teeth down with a
screwdriver. We did this for a couple of minutes and then found that it
wouldn't go anymore. The drums would still not come off. Any suggestions??
Thanks in advance.
Paul

a) Try turning the self adjuster the other way. But if the drum turns
very easy, I doubt this is your problem. In which case....
b) Hit the drum with a hammer to loosen it from the hub. They tend to
rust in place. Don't hit the drum anywhere but between the studs where
the axle is behind it. In other words DON'T POUND IT OFF, just break the
rust loose. If after one or two good raps it still doesn't come off check
for some other problem.
