You have the rest of your life to play with cars. You will
have much more time and money, and who can even imagine what will be
available in the future?

In reply to George's comment and with no real value to the the Fordnatics
list I will voice my minority opinion that:

A) Cars are much more fun than my engineering undergrad degree. Indeed,
a fun car does not subtract but rather adds to the fun of obtaining this
degree! (more fun than my masters, too!)
cool smiley A car is a great way to meet people including people that you would
not have "hung" with in high school. They also are a good way to
discover common interests and make it very easy to tell the "true or
trying" from the bull****ers.
C) How are you going to know if the "woman of your dreams" can even
endure a hobby like a 30 year old car if you wait until you are 40 to
tell her about your fantasy?

Yes, performance costs. Yes, your car could break down. Yes, it may not
be the right thing to do at this point in your life. But when will
100mph be "the right thing to do"? When will putting your foot to the
floor and feeling your cheeks try to jump into the back seat be "the
right thing to do"??

I bought my last Mustang with a Visa loan and gave up eating out to buy
parts. It may never be done but I drive it every day of my life. It's
important to me to enjoy the 1 & 1/2 hours of every day that I spend on
the road. So I ask you, "WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU???" Only you can
decide. I went for it.

I just have to say, that as a student and car enthusiast myself,
you have to set some limits. The only reason I could afford the Mustang
SVO that I have now is because I bought it in the Army, BEFORE I became
a student. I've made some modifications, and turned up the boost a little,
but I have to be very careful, or I'll blow the thing up and be SCREWED.
If I don't finish this degree, I'll never be able to support my hobbies in
the manner that I would like to. This car is the thing most likely to keep
me from reaching that goal. Therefore, as much as I like this car, I can
not allow it to prevent or delay my schooling. So, although cars are "much
more fun than my engineering degree", they MUST be put on the back burner
to avoid ruining my future (I can only afford college for so long). Sorry
about the length.
