Does anyone have experience installing the Shelby gauge pod and instruments in a 70 Mach I?? I have a factory tach, which means I have idiot lights, which means I don't have much.
I am wondering about the clearance for the heater controls.
I am trying to determine if I want an ammeter or a voltmeter.? Thoughts?
Also, does anyone have a wiring diagram for this retrofit.? I have a copy of the Shelby diagram with the ammeter.? Do I purchase a Shelby harness (haven't checked yet so I am not sure they are available), or make my own?
Thanks in advance for the responses.

Are we talking about the pod mounted in place of the ash tray in the centre
console?
As per this picture of a 69 Mach?

My choice would be oil pressure and voltmeter

Mike,
No problem with the heater controls at all.
The repro pod I got from a local Mustang parts place for $20 was a bit
flimsy but did the job.
I would recommend that whatever gauges you chose that they all be
electrically driven to make install and removal of the console easy. I had
an oil pressure gauge which was the mechanical feed tube type, and the feed
tube was too short This made it a PITA every time I needed to remove the
console as the pipe needed to be disconnected each time and it always
dripped oil on the carpet. If you use a mechanical gauge make sure the tube
is long and coiled under the console so it can stay connected.
The only wiring otherwise is the back lighting for the gauges and that can
be tapped off the heater controls back light. The voltmeter just taps into
any 12 volt source . In my case the feed to the cig lighter in the console
was perfect.
Easy!
Wal
