I was intending to lower my front end suspension this year by swapping
out stiffer springs with a lower ride height. Now I think I like the
Shelby drop idea better. Is there an added benefit to using stiffer
springs in addition to the Shelby drop?

Is there anything else I should plan to replace when I have it all
apart? It has the original suspension and some noisy ball joints.

My 67 is just a weekend driver. I do want to maintain a comfortable
ride, but I've always felt the front end could be stiffened up a bit.
I plan to replace the rear leaf springs with a stiffer set, as well as
sway bars front and back.

thanks. mike.

i have heard the stiffer springs make the car ride rough , though i cant say
that i know for sure....only "hear say".

i would definitely go with a 1" front sway bar.....big difference in
handing, no effect on ride quality.

the "shelby drop" doesnt change ride height , only changes the angle of
the upper control arm which improves the geometry of the suspension.

i did the shelby drop , have stock coil springs , and a 1" front sway bar,
225/60r15 tires fill the wheel well perfect , great ride height.

out back i have 5 leaf , standard eye springs. the rear sits maybe an inch
higher than the front. the five leafs make it a little rough riding however.

adding a monte carlo bar and export brace will also tighten up the front end.

i'd be willing to bet that its not the ball joints squeeking , its probably
the upper control arm pivot shafts. you will probably need to replace both.

Ahem....it does change the ride height slightly.. about 1/3 to 1/2 inch for a 1 inch arm drop. The spring sits on the top arm, the inner pivot of which is lowered a full inch.....thus dropping the lower spring mounting down by part of the distance..... Wal
