Yes, I did try the switch in the dash, it has little or no resistance, I was
looking for an inline valve......

There isn't one. It sounds like the slider on the dash has become
disconnected. Look under neath and it is fairly obvious how all of that
works.

Mark and all,
I hope that everyone will understand when I state that I have the carb, and
fuel pump, as well as the original tires that were on the car (good year poly
guides). I am not a fan of the landfills. ( I dont believe that anyone would
have wanted the rotted out gas tank or float, but I have them If you want
them.) I need the rest of the items to prove the low milege of the car. The
Block is black (un-repainted) the valve covers and breather are gold
(original) and the original sticker is still on the breather cover (orange
289 with flags...), it is still running the original electrical system as far
as I can tell.
Well, am I still a "Survivor Class"?
Thanks,
Casey

Good job! Hang on to everything. One of the things to watch is the
engineering numbers on your replacement parts. The water pump should probably
have a c4ae number on it. Jeff Speegle can probably tell you the requirements
for the survivor class. Basically, you want to make as few changes as
possible. Paint touch-ups are o.k., but no repaints. Some guys go so far as
to patch their seats with material from other old seats so that its original
material. Belts and hoses should also have vintage part numbers on them. Its a
pain, but very few cars are capable of this classification after so many years.
What I can't understand is how all this stuff got so bad on an 8K mile car
that was up on blocks. Are you sure its not 108k?
Good Luck,
Mark
