I may be showing my ignorance here, but here goes. I apologize if
this sounds like rambling - I've got a million questions all at once.

Umpteen years ago my father and I restored a 1967 Mustang. My memory
is kinda foggy here, but I want to say he at one point said he'd put
'68 fenders on it *for some reason*. I am now in the process of
restoring the Mustang again. It is a late model '68. Now, I'm told
that some of the late model '68's had the hoods with the turn signals
in them, which mine does. I am pretty sure the hood was not replaced
during the initial restoration. Back to the fenders - the fenders had
the running pony/289 emblem, as well as the scripted Mustang emblem.
68 fenders, right? If so, then I have no idea what the '67 fenders
look like. Did they have only the running pony/289 emblem on them?

Help?

Many thanks,
Charlie DuBose

Both 68 and 68 came with the signal hoods ("deluxe" exterior package). The
68 fenders will have marker lights up front under the end of the bumper, 67
fenders did not have the lights. Both years have the emblems.

Boy, after re-reading my initial post I am sure I confused the heck
out of some people. My car is a '67. I think I said it was a '67
once and a '68 as well.

Did the '67 fenders have a choice of the script "mustang", or did it
have the blocky individual lettering "mustang".?

After reading your post, I realize my stang does indeed have 68 fenders...

Hmmm...

Thanks for the info.

'68s had the script style lettering, 67s used the block letters.

If your fenders are in good shape, you could either fill in the light hole
easily enough, or just leave it there and have a marker light if you aren't
going for 100% original... Would venture to say that most would never
notice.

Charlie,

The '67 Mustang front fenders had the running horse emblem (different engine designations)
and a block print "MUSTANG" emblem all in capital letters. There are no directional cut-outs.
Rear quarters are plain with the exception of a twin simulated scoop behind the door anchoring
the sculpted side body curves.

The '68 Mustang front fenders had a running horse emblem (different engine designations)
and a script Mustang emblem. Ford added side-marker lights at the lower front edge of the
fender. The rear quarters have 2-varieties (early and late) of side marker lights by the rear
edge, plus a plain chrome strip where the 67 has the twin simulated scoop.

Hope this helps!
