Hello Everybody,
I would like to start correcting my engine compartment. Does somebody have pictures of a correctly detailed 66 convertible with a 289 4BBL. I am trying to put mine back to stock. Well not quite because mine was originally a 2BBL car. If you have any pictures with out the air cleaner on top tha would be great.
Thanks,
Colin Wood

Colin,
You'll see lots of engine compartments online. Just look at any of the magazine sites.
If you want, check out my Mustang Engine Compartment Detailing article that was posted on this site a few years ago: links.vintage-mustang.com/index.html?faq In the index you'll see lots of articles you may want to take a look at that show 65-66 Mustang engine compartments.
I did the detailing on my 1970 Mustang Mach I with 351C-4V, AC, ps, pb, etc. but wrote the article generically so it could be used for any 65-70 Mustang engine compartment. The premise of the article was how to get it done in a weekend for less than $300 (without removing the engine) and get concourse-level results.
It's one of the best articles I've written to date. But, I regret now that I didn't take before and after pictures and show the how to step by step with photos. So I am doing another engine detailing article with complete step by step photo journalism for another Mustang e-zine that will be out in January 2008. This will use my just acquired 1970 Boss 302, but it will be generic enough to apply to any 65-73 Mustang. Of course, any one on the Classic Mustang List will have free access to it.
Best Regards,
