Questions from a friend restoring a Boss 351, anybody have answer and/or opinion:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am hoping you can help with a couple of questions. There is a dip stick for sale on e-bay, but the
part number ends with AA. Your picture clearly shows the dipstick should end with BA. The website
for the Boss 351 also lists and shows a picture of the part number ending BA. Do you know what this
AA is?
Also, there is a rev limiter that was taken off a car that is pretty nice. The date code is 7017 or
the 17th week (or early May) of 1970. My car was built in January of 1971. Do you have any feel for
if the date on the rev limiter is too early? These are such picky things, but I guess if the main
reason for buying this stuff is to get the car "correct," it's dumb to pay for the wrong part
numbers and codes.

Don't know about the dipstick, but the date code is "probably" a little early, 8
mths is a long time.

Admittedly though I have seen true original factory cars with date codes that
far apart...

My 65 ragtop's date codes are all within 2-3 months before the official build
date on the car.

Well, they WERE, until my d**ned Dagenham 4 speed stripped 2nd gear and due to
a complete inability to find a new 2nd gear for it I just told the tranny shop
to drop a T-5 in it. At least I got a replica shift handle so it'll still LOOK
like the original....sigh...

Think anybody would believe it if I etched an April 65 build date on the T-5?
snicker....

Lance
