Hey all,
I just got a replacement emblem for my front fender for my '70
convertible. The old one said "Mustan" and my name's not Stan so I thought
I'd replace it. Got the old one off fine and the new one lines up fairly
well with the old holes. Problem is that, with the sleeves/grommets I can
only press in so hard without denting the fender, and hammering it in with a
soft mallet only causes it to jump right off. Tried putting a 2x6 over it
and hammering it in, that didn't help either. Any tricks of the trade here?
I have the middle of 3 posts in almost all the way but the other two don't
want to get in there.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

You might try using a drill to very carefully enlarge the hole(s) only
slightly. I had to do this on my daughter's 65 coupe.
