I've noticed both plaid and speckled trunk mats available from the various Mustang dealers. Does anyone know which is the correct one for a 70 Mach 1? I understand the speckled was used in 70. Thanks.

The difference is in where the car was assemblied.
Generally plaid for San Jose - speckled for NJ and Dearborn. It was a supplier thing where companies (Ford HATED single sources) bid and were awarded contracts to supply the overthe counter and assembly plants (a 6-10 in the sixties)
Other differences that demonstrate this (for example) would be the factory shocks installed in the factories - One would be stamped MADE IN CANADA the other MADE IN USA One would have fine threads the other would have course - Apparently Ford did not apparently specify the threads in the contract
