I spotted an article in the June 2006 Car&Driver magazine on this car, with
an intake that looks to be straight off of a V6 SHO, then they stamped
different letters into it. The article doesn't mention SHO at all, even
says "induction runners intentionally twisted to resemble what Brown calls a
'tangle of garter snakes' ", as if THEY came up with it.

Has anybody figured out what the hell was up with that article? If it had been in the April issue I would have understood it, but the whole thing made no sense to me.
I picked the issue up to read on the plane to California last week, and I quickly remembered why I let my subscription lapse.

My only guess is that it was a leftover article that didn't fit in their
April issue and they decided to run it anyway. If it were in the April
issue, it would have been funny.

Yea, a photoshop job that should have run in the April issue. It was
just "real" enough to fool me and a few others for a short time. Mainly
because I keep hoping (with zero chance of it happening) that the V6
engine will make a comeback....
There was a big "discussion"
about it on the various lists/forums. You aren't the only one to
wonder......

Kerby,
Only thing I can figure is it was a left over April article. C&D became
a LOT less interesting when they canned Brock Yates. Plus they are
chicken for not putting in the many (probably thousands) of letters on
either side that they must have gotten on that move. They are just
ignoring it.

They also had an article on Ford cars in other markets that should be sold in the US. Great idea for an article, but I found it incomplete and very superficial. It should have been much better. And I think that is the first time I have ever been bored reading about a Porsche. I was highly disappointed in the whole mag. If it wasn't for all the parents taking their kids to the toilet and hitting me in the head the whole flight, I might have gone to sleep.

With the magazine lag time of 2-3 months, getting the June issue in early
May would indicate that letters about Brock wouldn't start showing up until
early July for the August issue.

There usually isn't that much lag time for the magazines for the letters
column. There have now been two issues since the firing of Brock, so
there has been plenty of time. I will be surprised if they put a single
letter in about it.

There usually isn't that much lag time for the magazines for the letters
column. There have now been two issues since the firing of Brock, so
there has been plenty of time. I will be surprised if they put a single
letter in about it.

I didn't think about it being somewhat fake or photoshopped. I just thought
somebody built a concept car and wasn't very imaginative about it.

Check out the picture of the interior. The radio is photoshopped in, and not very well...
