Hello,
I've been lurking for about a year..this is my first post. The problem
that I am having is that my sho ('94 MTX) keep stalling on hot days after a
driving period of about 1 hour or so. It seems to run fine, then if I let it
sit an idle for about 1-3 minutes it stalls (almost like it is out of gas). I
just did my 60K a couple of months ago, so I don't think it is the CPS. I
also just cleaned the IAB with no luck. I pulled the codes and got these:
511-no power to PCM pin 1 or bad PCM
542- Fuel pump open/bad ground or always on
411- Idle speed system not controlling idle properly
225- Knock sensor not tested

>From these I am thinking that it probably has something to do with my fuel
pump. Either it is bad, or not grounded. Am I on the right track, or way
off?

simple diagnois

your water pump is right above a sensor called the CPS .. or crank postion
sensor.

The weep hole of the water pump is directly above this sensor ... and when
the water pump starts to fail ... it will weep coolant out of the hole
directly on the dps sensor ...

After a while the sensor gets to hot and fails ... the EEC senses the
failure and shuts down the motor immediatly.

After the CPS sensor cools down .. you than can restart the motor.

You need a new water pump and sensor .... i also recommend replacing the
front main seal when down there and ONLY have someone who know there shit

While this is true, I (and I believe several others) have had crank
sensors fail when the water pump was fine. My point is, even if it
appears that your pump is not leaking at all, the CPS is still most
likely bad.

Jeremy;
After it stalls will it start up again right away?
(a bad CPS won't)
If it won't check codes right away, you may find a CPS code.
If it will, clear all codes and run codes again. Note which one sets
"first".
Deal with that one.
Check all grounds for tightness, especially ECM ground: screw on firewall
near neg batt, with wires from neg batt and ECM (thru quick disconnect).
Also important grounds on pass rear manifold bracket bolt way in back, and
pass firewall by hood strut, small blk ground & screw.
Clear codes and check again.
Lee
