Fellow Mustangers,
Here's a question that someone out there may have an answer for...
Which supercharger is the "coolest," as in the temperature that is??
I'm debating between a Powerdyne/SVO/B&M (all the same unit) and the
Vortech. All things being equal (which is impossible, of course) it seems
like whichever SC unit runs at a lower temp overall would likely tend to have
the longer operating life, as well as put somewhat less stress on the engine,
thus tending to prolong it as well.
The Vortech plumbs into the engine oil for cooling whereas the SVO uses a
sealed bearing that requires no additional lubrication, plus it runs a Kevlar
belt (vs a metal gear a la Vortech) which also reduces friction and thus
heat. But, I've seen advertising claims by Vortech that their unit runs
cooler anyway. Go figure.
Which is it, does anyone know?? Which blower runs coolest, the Vortech or
the SVO??
Thanks for any info you may have. BTW, please post any replies to the public
lists as I suspect there are at least a few others out there who would be
interested in hearing more about this topic.

Not ever having had a blower, I can only surmise, but I would think
the main source of heat coming from a blower would be from compressing
the incoming air, with heat transfer from the bearings (or belt, or
whatever,) running a distant second.
Taking that into account, when I get my blower, I plan on getting
either the ATI intercooled blower, a whipplecharger, or the BBK/Eaton
blower. The ATI is intercooled, and the whipple and Eaton blowers have
lower boost pressures (and temps,) but they give healthy boost over a
broad RPM range.
