well, it's happened. my '87 Mustang GT with 5-spd and T-tops is doing its
best imitation of a british car. it's leaking rainwater, but not at the
T-tops, as you might think. in the rain, water drips down from somewhere
in the driver's footwell, right into my right shoe. i've noticed that it
doesn't seem to happen when i drive around town in the rain, but it happens
on the freeway. pretty annoying.

so, i'm going to get in there with a flashlight after a rainy drive
and take a look, but i was wondering if there were any common trouble
spots or places i should look. where could this leak be coming from?
i'm thinking either at the base of the windshield or the firewall.
does this sound reasonable? can water that leaks through the base of
the windshield make it down into the driver's footwell?

also, the driver's window unseals at high speeds, but i know the problem
already: the doors don't have window frames, and the weatherstripping is old
and compressed. maybe i'll cut open the weatherstripping and stuff
something inside to make it puff up a little.
