Hi Fordnatics...

While out on the road tonight I ran across an '88 Turbo Coupe on a lot.
Sticker on windshield says "low mileage". Body looks good, paint's a little
faded, but it's a Turbo Coupe! smiling smiley

I'm gonna go back and have a closer look. Anything in particular I should be
looking for(like the turbocharger)?

This would be a perfect car #2, as the 5.0 is being retired from
daily-driver status in order to begin restoration...

Any and all information appreciated.

BTW, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all of you... may 1995 bring you the
Ford(s) of your dreams.

Well, if its like mine with an automatic, I would get that
checked out. The previous (first) owner of mine had to get the A4LD (sp?)
completly rebuilt from the first nut and bolt.
Define low mileage. I bought mine this past summer with 59K on
it. When you test drive, or look in the engine bay, look for signs of
being beat on. I got lucky and bought mine from the old pastor at my
church (whom I also know took great care of the car, because I helped him.)
Look for oil residue around the turbo. It will be hard to see since its
below the intercooler, but thats not hard to get off either. (If you cant
get it tell me and I'll tell you about it some other time.)

If is an auto, power brake it. GENTLY!! It should be able to start
to spin the rear wheels on dry pavement without any transmission slip.
Look for any smoke out the exhaust at start-up. This indicates a bad
turbo. How does it idle? Does it stumble when you gun it?

Thats all I can think of right now. Get ahold of the previous
owner, and see what kind of maintenence he/she did. That would help.
Also why did they sell it?

Just for the hell of it, what color is it? Also where are you
located? What options does it have?

Well good luck!!!
