My father has a 1969 Ford Ranger pickup with a 390 engine and a
3-on-the-tree manual transmission. For the past 10 years or so, the
clutch has chattered badly. We've tried just about everything we can
think of to clear this up from a new flywheel to a complete transmission
rebuild to no avail. When the tranny was rebuilt, the mechanic said it
was a passenger car transmission. Has anybody ever heard of a tranny
for a passenger car being put on a truck? As fas as we know, this is
the original engine and tranny in the truck. Secondly, does anybody
have any ideas why we can't get rid of the clutch problem?
