I need to purchase a new torque converter before I install my new
351w in my 68 mustang. I am a bit confused about which converter I need to
buy. My car will has 3.89 gears, C4 (with shift kit), and a stout 351w
(450+ hp). The car will also be using a NOS kit (150hp). I am using a
single pattern Competition Cam with 292 duration. Duration @.050 is 234. It
also has .518 lift.
Is the B&M holeshot 3000 to high for this application. I drive this
car everyday, but I go to every braket bash I can find. Does anyone have
any experience with this????

Any info would help clear the "windshield".......

My 1978 Mercury Zephyr Z-7 (fairmont) equipped with the following:
1969 351-W with 1970 heads
my own blueprinted custom grind cam
holley 780 carb
nitrous
3.73 gears & c-4 trans
(sound familiar)

...anyways, I ran a 2600 rpm stall converter. I chose this because I ran
the car as a road race car. I wanted get up and go, but livable rpm range.
The car was lowered, stiff shocks & springs, fully adjustable front &
rear sway bars, & p245-56-16 on 16x8 wheels on all fours. getting back
to the converter, I could roast the tires at a 40 mph roll!!! Now for
you drag racing people, the suspension was too stiff to plant a good launch,
but the torque converter was tall enough for me. Hope this "opinion" and
not too much advise may help.
