This weekend I had a stereo system installed in my 1991 Taurus SHO.
Since then the tach has not worked. I checked all the fuses, thinking
that one had simply blown during the installation, but they were all
good. When I took a close look at the tach needle, I noticed it was on
THE WRONG SIDE of the little pin which is supposed to prevent it from
falling below zero RPM. It is just slightly below the pin. When I
start the car, it pushes up against the pin and (obviously) goes no further.
How did it get there? Did the installers reverse an electrical connection
somewhere? How do I get it back to where it belongs? Do I have to
pull the dash apart?
