Hi All,

I just got my Feb 95 issue of SF, and the letters section contained a
submission from someone who said what I wanted to but didn't about their
supercharger and intercooler test. I had commented a month or so back
about how they used the wrong formula the wrong way to calculate the
increased pumping efficiency due to intercooling. They estimated a 20%
increase, while I estimated about 5%. The letter writer (a Tom Parrish
of Tullahoma, TN...should we try to sign him onto the list?) told them
of their mistakes; which were that their representation of the ideal gas
law was wrong, but it wouldn't have mattered since the comparisons of
before and after numbers would have canceled out the first mistake, but
their second mistake was not using absolute pressures and temperatures,
which is why they got such impressive numbers. But, Mr. Parrish arrived
at numbers similar to what I estimated.

I knew I wasn't dealing with Caltech grads when I read SuperFord, but they
could have at least gottent the high school chemistry stuff correctly.

By the way, has anyone seen the GT90 conecpt car yet? Wish I had about
$100k to blow on it. The design is somewhat reminescent of the YF-117A
stealth fighter...triangular body panels that deflect radar waves away from
the signal source. Interesting. I hope they build it; Ford really
needs a Corvette stomper from the factory.

eyc
