I have a query about strut tower braces. I currently run one (Steeda),
but would like to change it for one reason--it somewhat blocks my oil
filler cap. The stock cap will fit ok, but the (chrome) MotorSport cap is
too tall to remove. I also have a K&N breather that I'd like to run, but
its even taller than the FMS cap. In order to run the FMS cap, I have to
shim the right side of the STB about 1/4" upward, which I'd obviously
like to eliminate if at all possible.

Does anyone make a strut tower brace that is on one side or another of
the oil filler cap? Car in question is a 92 5.0, but I think any FI motor
from 86-93 uses the same valve cover??

Does the Maier STB block the filler cap? Does anyone know of a brace that
doesn't block it? The reason I'm asking I've tried to look hard at pics
in the mags, but its really hard to see clearance from a picture...

Regards,

.RogeR.

The Maier strut tower brace for '86-93 Mustangs does indeed block the
oil filler cap. I had mine modified by a local fabricator. IMHO the
Maier brace's mounting system, sandwiched between the strut tower and
the camber plate, is enough superior to the competition that it's worth
the expense to modify.

You can always get a local fabricator to come up with a custom brace,
and I'd recommend this if your car is dramatically different than stock.
