I am very interested in brand of headers you use. I assume you
do have 67-70 Mustang with either 390,427 or 428... I have had
Cyclone and Headman long ago (they are no longer available for the
car/engine) and it was not easy to yank the starter out with headers
wrapped around.....

Its a '69 GT convertible, deluxe interior, 390, 4 spd, bright yellow
(special order). And, no, I don't want to sell it, I'm well aware of how
rare it is. You'd be surprised what you find in your local paper!
I use HOOKER Super Competition, and that is all that is available in any
case. With those, once the starter is unbolted, it will fall out if it
comes out at the right angle. Naturally it can wedge in, but that can be
done with almost any car with headers. But, the damn headers sit way
down. In my case the car is lowered about two inches all around and
doesn't have the original pickup sized tires. That leaves about at most
two inches of clearance on my headers. The collectors catch when I try
to put the car on an electric hoist, so two people must lift on each
front fender to drive it on the hoist.
But, that is the price you must pay for easy access to the starter!
