Ok, here is my sorry representation of the clip which holds the
speedo drive gear in the T-5.

This speedometer drive gear clip looks something like this (use
you imagination :-)):

* **
* * *
************** *

*

It's about 1 inch long, the bottom tab on the drawing goes into
a hole in the transmission tail shaft, the top left tab locks into
the plastic drive gear itself and the bump on the end keeps the
gear from being pushed off the tab.

To remove the top left part of the tab must be compressed, since
it is underneath the gear it can be a pain, optional is to break
off the plastic gear itself (since you are replacing it).

The object of the clip is to keep the gear from sliding on the
shaft, the gear itself is splined to keep from rotating on the
shaft.
