You know what might be an interesting combo for a low-cost, high-po Stang?
How about the new 3.2 DOHC V8 (new SHO motor) in the Stang? It gets 220+hp
and monster torque that the six probably lacks. Also, cheaper than the
4.6, and more economical. Maybe Saleen should look to drop this in the
Sport rather than the 3.8 six. No need for the supercharger. He could
start with 220 hp and add on from there for those with fatter wallets,
greater demands for their car.
Any ideas/comments/questions? Is Saleen listening?
Dan

How would that work, putting a FWD engine in a RWD car? Also the SHO engine
is by no means a *cheap* engine.

It's been done: Can you say fiero? Citation front in the rear with a
chevette front in the front. They did this until the last year of production
and then it got it's own suspension. The engine cradle was drilled to mount
the quad 4 too. But that never happened.

You know what would be an even better combo, use the "current" SHO 3.2
or 3.0 DOHC 24V "V6" rated at 220 hp. Why, first of all, this V6 is
probably cheaper, therefore its power/cost ratio is even better, and can
offer a V6 buyer with a powerful engine, without the insurance cost of a GT
V8.

(Don't getme wrong here, the new 3.2 DOHC V8 is also a good idea for,
say Saleen Motorsport, but not for Ford Co. to sell.)

What else, have you heard about the '95 Camaro/Firebird option, a 3.8 3800
Series II V6 (auto is mandatory), which is an option to replace te course
3.4L in the base model. It is rated a 200 Hp, and 225 torque, 0-60 in 7.1
sec, and the 1/4 mile in 15.5/86.9mph.

Whats more embaressing is the fact that a GT "AUTO" (notice I didn't
say manual) could lose out in a stoplight race, if running alng side a '95
Camaro 3.8!!

By the way, are there any Ford Executives or Ford workers who read
"Fordnatics" messages??? This is what I think Ford Co. should do.

Ford should sell the 3.2L (or 3.0L) DOHC 24V V6 SHO engine alongside the
3.8L OHV engine. Wy, its simple:

1. The competition have other alternatives to its "harry" L-T-1 V8,
but not as low down as the wimpy 3.4L, but its now mid hp 3.8!

Therefore, when the Modulars' come in, Ford will have a big harry DOHC,
SOHC, and should offer the SHO forthose who do not opt for the extra V8
power, but don't want a low powered 3.8L (But still keep the 3.8L though!)

2. Do all that, and success should come to Ford's doorsteps.

Anyone out there who agrees? Differs? Other suggestions?

What about those ord Executives...comments??????

Actually this month's Popular Science has a thing on the concept car Lincoln
has, and they say the new SHO engine is already in production. In what
though?
