The directions say not to use assembly lube so if it were my car I
wouldn't, period. There is no benifit of using assembly lube on a
roller cam, so whether or not it is actually damaging is kinda irrelavent.
Follow the directions or the suggestion by Robert King to oil and
assemble. Of course pressurizing the engine with the oil pump prior to
turning it over is important.

Concerning tire clearance... A baseball bat works well for
rolling the inner fender lips upp against the fender flare. However on
a curved or tight radius part of thhe fender the inner lip must be
slotted so that you are not trying to stretch the metal being rolled.
