Bryan, my wife's 91 Escort had this problem. After checking everything
on the computer, cleaning the injectors, replacing the MAF, oxygen sensor,
etc it turned out to be nothing more than a bad (and only 10k mile old)
PVC valve.
Its a cheap thing to start with too !
