Piston to valve clearance Gt-40 heads

Well mother Malek didn't give you much help so I will try to give you a
hint!

Chances are you have plenty of clearance if all you are changing is the
heads and didn't take over .050 off. Get out the clay and stuff it in a
piston top (not too much), bolt on the head ( go ahead and use the old
gasket) cycle the engine through 2 revolutions (slowly, by hand). Then take
the head back off and take a look at the clay. Needs to be approx .100
piston to valve clearance to be real safe. It the motor does not cycle thru
with out contacting the piston or the clearance is less, you are back where
Dan left you dan-gling. Start looking for thicker head gaskets to give you
some of the metal you shaved off! Also if the heads have bigger valves,
watch out for not having large enough eybrows in the slugs (if they have
them at all).
