I went to a Saleen and other Late Model Mustang car show today in VA but, due
to the rain, it was literally washed out. But, in the meantime, a lot of us
had a chance to get together and had some outstanding Mustang-related
discussions. It was fun and informative, in spite of the lousy weather.

(**BTW, if any people in the Mid-Atlantic area, or elsewhere, are interested
in joining us, we're going to organize another show sometime in the next few
months...if you might be interested in attending, e-mail me and I'll put your
name of the mailing list. Be sure to include your snail mail address as
well.**)

Anyway, now to the point. In preparing my car for the show, I kind of gave
up in trying to clean the hood insulation on my 94. But, at the show, I met
a guy who solved the problem with what I thought was a very trick
solution...he removed it, brushed it as clean as he could and then spray
painted it black. Looked veeryyy nice!!

Does anyone have any opinions/speculation as to what *painted* hood
insulation might have in the way of potential disadvantages?? After the
paint is dry, there shouldn't be any fire hazard potential. But, I'm
wondering if the insulation capability would be degraded in any significant
way?? Too much heat getting through to the hood might tend to, over time,
screw up the paint. Can anyone think of anything else to consider??

Would appreciate any thoughts or opinions on this car-show related point.
Plus, figured there's at least a few car show people out there who might
want to hear about this idea. Please be sure to post any replies to the
lists so others can benefit if they wish.

(Keep in mind that most normal people wouldn't even begin to consider
painting their hood insulation, and view people who do as in great need of
professional help. <g> )

Thanks.

Mike in VA
