For awhile now I have been thinking about a couple of cars that resided
a block or so from me in the mid sixtys.

One was a 62 Ford 406 4door with the 3 X 2s and a 4 Speed. This car
belonged to an ATF agent who was a neighbor. Actually it was a federally
owmned car. I was at a local dealershiop when it was in for service
while the mechnaics were troubleshooting a carburetor problem so I got a
look while they had the air cleaner off. This car was a medium metallic
green.

The next car I remember was a 64 4door 4 speed 427 2X4 setup. this one
was dark blue but I never saw the engine just the 427 badges and the 4
speed shifter.

I suspect these cars were used to chase the moonshiners in and
around Wilkes County NC. After their tour of duty they were sold at auction as
were other cars and bought up by moonshiners and drag racers.

I have never seen any documentation or build info on these cars but I am
sure they were factory built due to the factory look and being serviced
at the local dealership.

In 67-68 or there abouts they had 428 automatics in 4 door police style
cars but don't know which version of the 428 it was.

Thought I would throw this out for a little discussion
