I've been living with a new T/A design short-throw shifter for the Mustang 5.0
for a couple of weeks now and I can report that it is fantastic. It reduces
throw by 6" (nearly 3" more than the Hurst shifter) and it makes going through
the gears a pleasure rather than a chore. The piece is machined (vs. the
Hurst shifter which is cast) and costs only slightly more than the Hurst.
Ford Motorsports just bought a whole bunch of these from T/A Performance and
will offer them in their next catalog. You can get them now by calling
Joe Casella and asking for part# C-05-T5. He charged me $229 for mine.
I've had a Hurst shifter and this piece is unquestionably better.
Joe Casella & T/A Performance may be reached on (201) 773-4200. I have no
association with them other than as a satisfied customer. I hate to sound
like an advertisement, but this is a great product. If there is a Mustang
list, could someone copy this there? I think those folks would be interested.

Hmmmmm, slightly more ??? I paid $129 for my Hurst shifter, and for $229 I can
get some more goodies and have a quick throw
But I agree, a short throw is a pleasure to use
- especially on the strip
I would call this shifter an alternative, to the Hurst one. Hurst carries
2 different ones that will fit the 5.0. The regular black shifter and a chome
one that comes with the boot cover plate etc... that might be more expensive.
Note: I adapted the stock isolator to the hurst to reduce the noise from the tranny
which I found to be a missing feature on the regular Hurst shifter. Firm shifts
but without the noise
