BTW fellow Ford chaps, I was organising my pile of Ford and
Mustangs publications recently, and you know how it is, you
just cant't help to delve in and start reading certain
articles. I discovered the following tidbits. Unique replicas
(a reputable Cobra kit company, featured no less in Road and
Track a year ago), offer a replica of the famous 289 FIA Cobra
racer. Their prototype model had in lieu of a (much expensive )
289 HiPo, a Ford Mexican block 302, which from the gist of the
article seems to be a viable alternative in terms of
strength...Also in a Mustang Monthly, there was an article that
featured a gennie Shelby GT350. The owner, to save wear on his
precious HiPo 289, installed in it's place, you've guessed it,
a Ford Mexican block.....Hmmm one of my better purchases I
guess smiling smiley
