Hello all:
I'm seeking advise on how to get rid of an oil leak coming
from the rear of the engine. The exact location of the leak is
in between the engine and the tranny. I have a '92 5.0 GT with a
five speed and it has 40k miles on it. I had the rear main seal
and pan gasket replaced late November of last year. That did the
job for a while, but kept on leaking after some time. Any clues
would be gladly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Nilo Enerio

You say you had the rear main seal replaced. Is it possible the problem
is really a valve cover gasket? I had similar symptoms, but found the
VCGs were history. Check the back end of the heads, and if they look
wet with oil, that's probably your culprit.

Is it possible that the valve cover gaskets are leaking? When mine went,
the oil dripped from the back of the cover and down the block and appeared
to be a main seal leak.
