Does anyone have access to a cross reference which describes the following
injector part number?

F1SE-E5A

I want to make sure that this is a 30# injector. The reason I want to
verify this is that I just got my supercharger installed (which I'll be
reporting on after I shake the problems out) and am having some detonation
problems, especially at low RPMs at middlin' throttle. I'm trying to insure
everything on the car is up to snuff before calling Pro Flow about the MAF
calibration (which Jim Bell of Kenne-Bell seems to think is the likely cause
of the problem). Jim Bell has assured me that detonation should *not* be a
problem with this kit as long as timing is kept stock and at least 92 octane
gas is used (I currently have 93 in the car). My current guess at the
detonation is that the fuel mixture is too lean.

I had noticed a little bit of detonation (pinging) when the car was
naturally aspirated and you gave the gas pedal a mash at low RPM. This
started after I installed the MAF conversion, and was not present on the speed
density system. I've kept the timing at the stock 10 BTDC, and the car has
never seen less than 92 octane, so that pinging really shouldn't have been
happening. The detonation is now much more pronounced and starts at very
close to 0" vacuum at the supercharger discharge and is the most noticable
under 2000 RPM. Fuel pressure is a nice constant 41 psi between the injector
and the supercharger output until boost, when it goes up to 60 psi.

BTW, does anyone know if the stock fuel pressure regulator can operate under
positive pressure on the 'vacuum' input? From the cutaway diagrams I've seen,
it *looks* like it should, but looks can be deceiving. Unfortunately I can't
really tell what it's doing under boost because of a 'Fuel pressure boost'
unit installed in the gas return line to raise fuel pressure under boost. One
of the things I tried (which is still hooked up) to get rid of this problem
was to move where KB showed hooking up the pressure regulator. They had it
tapped in by the throttle body, which is only marginally related to the actual
vacuum/pressure seen at the injector. I moved the 'vacuum' hose to the
discharge side of the of the SC to get more of a constant pressure at the
injectors, which seems to have helped slightly.

If someone has access to a Ford part number cross reference, I'd appreciate
it if you could look up the injector. If anyone has any good ideas on how to
figure this problem out, I'd be really interested in hearing them.

Thanks,
Cliff

I could not match it exactly. Injector F1SE-E1A is a 30 lb./hr. injector
for a 3.8L T-Bird SC. Maybe what you have is a later, relabelled version
(then again, maybe not :-). I can check with my local friendly Ford
parts department next time I am there.
