times what I was expecting! It seems worth looking into the pickup slave
>cylinder arrangement utilizing the existing fork.

The above is what I did to my 48 ford. It cost me 125.00 for master and
slave, bellhousing, and the line that connects them from the local boneyard.
It works fine. I suggest you connect the master directly to the pivot on
your pedal, no linkage to reduce the pressure is needed. It is sensitive to
angles that 'spring' the rod going into the master. I broke one due to
fatique over 20,000 miles so try to get as straight a throw as possible.
What I would like to do now: go get a hydraulic slave throwout from a newer
ford car (ch*vy has the same arrangement now). Mount that to the bell
housing. Just from looking in the parts catalog, it should look a little
cleaner. I would, of course, get this off a junked car also. Go ye to the
boneyard, it will make you feel like a kid again.
k.p.

Hey K. Porter, what transmission did you use in your '48 and of course,
what bellhousing? What engine are you running?
