Indeed, the issues I left out are good issues. I am also looking around
for a pair of heads to put on my 302. Here is what I came up with
for what I want in my motor:
1) Rpm power range 1500-7000 (bye bye cleveland 4v, boss 302)
2) Under $500 ( bye bye new GT40/SVO/Aluminum)
3) Good FLow (Bye Bye factory 302 heads, 289 2bbl heads)
4) Big Valves, or ability to (see 3)
5) Higher compression (>10) (here goes a bunch... newer than '77 Windsor
(factory 302, 289 2v, 351C 2v open chamb,
( etc etc etc.
What this left me with for options:
1) Cleveland 2V heads, with the closed chamber heads
2) 1969-1970 351 Windsor 4v heads (rare)
3) 1969-1976 351 Windsor heads (60cc chamber)
4) 289 4v HO
5) Used cast iron GT40's
now, from this list, I looked at what I want to do.
1) I want to easily use my components (AC/alt/ps/etc.)
2) I really don't want to have to drill the heads/block
these items puts the cleveland in jeopardy
and that is where I am really at so far. If anyone can cast more
light on this, please do.
Hope this helps.
Jim
PS I am running 69cc Windsors now, and I NEED more compression.
PPS I am leaning toward taking a pair of pre 77 Windsors, reseating
190/150 valves, port/polish/plane... figured I could get 10.2:1 or
better with my TRW flat tops.
