I have finally started making progress on my home computer system, a Sun
4/110 that I received in trade for my old 5.0 engine block. Until now I
haven't had any disks for it, which means it has been sitting idle in my
basement. However, I've found a source for cheap 1.3 GB disks, and I'm
picking one up tomorrow.
If all goes well I should have it on the 'net in a few weeks, budget and
schedule permitting. I still need tape and CD-ROM drives, and a
dedicated phone line. Once these are in place, I will finally be able
to offer Fordnatics an archive and WWW site they can call their own!
What I'll be able to offer:
- Archives including images, Fordnatics digest back issues, and
anything else Ford-related we can come up with;
- WWW pages with links to automotive and racing resources;
- Various Fordnatics mail facilities, including (FINALLY!) automated
subscription handling, periodic posting of the charter and related
items, and specialty sublists if there's interest.
But I'll need your help, and your suggestions. If you had a Unix
machine, a net connection, and 1 GB of disk space to play with, what
would you put on it? Think big, and be creative. The wilder the
better! Send your ideas to (email redacted).
So watch this space. The Fordnatics WWW site is coming soon!

If I had a Sun and ugobs of disk space and a WWW server, I would provide a
home page service for the fordnatics subscribers. That is, fornatics that
have net browsing abilities but can't set up a WWW server due to firewall
issues and such could then tell a little about themselves and (if space
allows) to have pics of their Fords. Sounds like it would be a really fun
place to browse around. And if people already have home pages, you could
simply provide a pointer to their pages.
If you would like to see an example of this, look to the Juggling
Information Service which I think is an excellent WWW server at the
following URL
