The CHP all White units are generally used for enforcement of commercial
vehicle violations. For Example, the units have portable scales in the
trunk to weigh 18 wheelers which may be overweight and hazardous to the
highways for the rest of us. Generally they wont stop the average violator
but they, of course may take any law enforcement action appropriate within
the state.

The rumor I heard was that CHP supervisors were driving the cars. After
talking with a few chippee friends of mine, I got the scoop.
