I just put _another_ pump on my Bronco. Am I supposed to be using Type
F tranny fluid of PS fluid. When I put the first one on, I remember the fluid
draining out to be pink. But I put PS fluid (clear) back in. Would this be
causing slippage?
Thanks,
Shannon
PS-please reply directly in addition to the list. Digesting sucks....

Shannon, Shannon, Shannon...Try a Saginaw pump. It uses Dextron/Mercon, but
more importantly, its far more robust than the stock Ford pump. I lost several
Ford pumps on my testbed Bronco before someone bothered to tell me about the
Saginaw. You'll have to fabricate a mounting bracket but then you can forget
about your pump.
You'll find the Saginaw in all your best boneyards or under
GM hoods everywhere. Happy shopping.

That is good to know. However, I know that the Ford pump can take a
lot of abuse as long as the system is not otherwise damaged.
Regardless of what pump you're running, all bets are off if you're
not doing a good initial bleed or if some part of the system is
imparting air into the fluid.
If you're going through that many pumps, it may be a problem somewhere
else in the system.

My local parts store carries reman pumps with a lifetime warranty for
$80. That warranty is just *great* for hardcore applications.
