I'm about to update(backdate) my mustang to the SVO calipers and Master
Cylinder. I have a couple of question though. Will pads that are meant
for the smaller calipers work with the SVo units? Where can I find the
proper T fitting needed for MC? Is there anything else I should know B4 I
go ahead and do it?
Also Skod if you read this can you foward me a copy of your building the
Perfect Mustang( or atleast the brake upgarde section?)
Also someone had sent a letter describing their rework of fog lights and
said they would give more details when they got home. If that was you
could you foward me what you posted or mail me a short description of what
you did? Also does anyone have the addressw or phone number for Helm or
another source for the factory manuals.

Stainless Steel Brakes, (800) 448-7722, should have all the odds and
ends you need, which they normally package as part of their rear disc
brake conversion kit. Pads for the 60 mm calipers will fit the SVO/
T-bird/etc. 73 mm calipers, but the anti-rattle clips on the backs of
the driven pads will be useless. No biggie, it just means you get a
little rattling on bumps.
You may be able to find the bigger calipers used, or remanufactured,
from your favorite local brake vendor. Around here the local warehouse
parts chain has 'em for $35 or so each + core -- much better than the
Ford Motorsport price for new calipers, let alone the dealer.
If you *aren't* converting to rear discs, you'll probably need an
adjustable proportioning valve to keep the rear drums from locking
prematurely with the SVO MC.
I've not noticed any balance problem with the bigger front calipers and
MC with my rear discs, but you might want a prop valve anyway.
If you do go with rear discs, be aware the SSB kit uses hard lines
instead of flex hoses for the hop from the rear axle to the caliper.
You really want some kind of flex hose there, as the caliper must be
free to move laterally. Using brake hard line as a flex hose is
guaranteed to cause problems -- the worst being a fatigue failure of the
hard line, and resulting total loss of rear brakes! I prefer Earl's
stainless-over-Teflon hoses, but you may find a FoMoCo part that fits.

The pads for the '87-93 66mm calipers will fit, although the
antirattle springs for the driven pad will not clip into the piston.
Don't let that worry you, though. Just ignore them- that's what all
the race types who run those calipers do. If they rattle too much ,
glue the pads to the piston with a little bit of the CRC anti-squeal
lue goop.
You can fabricate the tee, or you can obtain it from Stainless Steel
Brakes as part number A14250, Tee ISO-SAE for master cylinder kit,
includes stainless steel hard lines, $35. SSB, 800-448-7722.
One thing to pay attention to is the brake booster pushrod length. You
may need to change it to mate up with the new MC. If the pedal is
excessively long, you might need to lengthen it. However, if it is set
up too long, the refill ports will be closed, and the brakes will drag
and eventually lock up. Set it up so that the first 1/4-1/2" of pedal
travel gives you a free squirt of fluid up into the primary reservoir.
You want to minimize the time spent squirting, but make sure that it
_does_ squirt for at least 1/2" of pedal travel. If you have free
pedal travel before the squirt actually starts, the pushrod is too
short.
