Hiya,
On the subject of electric fans, I need to find one (or pair?)
to fit the Cobra kit. The engine is a 5.0 EFI and the radiator
is a Mustang II replacement (nothing hi-performance or anything).
I just checked out Supershops here in Miami and they can sell me
one of two setups that will fit/work:

1) Single 16" fan. Brand is "Derale". 1900 CFM. $100.

2) 2 x 12" fan. Same brand. 780 CFM ea. x 2 = 1560 CFM.
$70 x 2 = $140.

The adjustable thermostat (140 deg to 220 deg approx) is $40.

Points to note: In Miami, it gets really hot (mid-90's). But,
as with all Shelby Cobras, I have a BIG hole in the front that'll
do nicely for cooling, except maybe not so much at low speeds when
the fan is really needed.

Obviously the single fan is the way to go, right? Now, is
$140 okay for this setup? Is Derale any good? I think skod
mentioned somewhere that he uses 'em. Comments?

Thanx,
-Neil.

Go to the junkyard. The two best fans are the ones off the late
Lincolns and '84-'up Corvettes. Next best would be two or three of
whatever's available - even little Jap car fans are fine, considering
local price is about $30 each.

Make sure you know which way the fan blows - ie puller or pusher. If
you don't have enough room for two fans on one side, you can run one of
each and overlap on opposite sides of the radiator.

Whatever fits. I use the 16", and it has worked just fine for 2
years...

Skip that thing, it's a piece of shit. It works by sticking a probe
between the radiator fins, and it's just sort of held in place by
awkwardness. They even want you to switch the motor load with it,
which is *suicidal*.

Get a good thermoswitch that mounts in a threaded boss, and mount it
in the blanked-off Thermal Vaccum Switch boss on the water outlet. You
can drill and tap that in any size from 1/4" NPT to 3/8" NPT, so you
have a wide variety of switches to choose from. I used a Filko TFS-12,
which is a 109degC normally-open switch intended for a Subaru. And use
a good relay to switch the fan motor load, not the thrmoswitch.
