Recently while replacing some steel brake line on my 80 Bronco I ran into
a problem while double flaring the ends. I had bent the lines to fit and
was putting the fittings and flare on like I have in the past but kept
butchering the double flare. Looking everything over I noticed that this
no kink line I had bought was very thick and instead of flaring the end it
would mushroom it. After much cussing, and about 10 feet of brake line I
lucked out and got a line bent and flared that looked ok. It went back
together fine, good pedal and such but there must be another type of
flaring tool for this thick walled brake line. Checked out a couple of
auto part stores looking for the thin wall tubing but they didn't carry
anything but this no-kink stuff. Anybody know how to double flare
this schedule 40 brake line properly????.....
