On a junkyard run last weekend for my Merkur XR4Ti, I picked up a rare piece
of equipment...an original, factory cruise control. Very few of these were
ever imported. Checking my shop manual, it looks like I got all the
switches, servos and other hardware to bolt right into my '87 XR4 except for
the vacuum supply hardware.

Since these were turbocharged, manifold pressure ranges from vacuum to 15
psi, so simply tapping into the manifold doesn't supply a reliable vacuum
source for the servo. The original factory design used two check valves, a
manifold tap, and an aspirator/venturi device in the turbo outlet pipe to
generate a vacuum during boost conditions. Interesting.

I don't have the aspirator hardware and need to come up with a means of
supplying vacuum to the cruise control.

How do TurboCoupes and other models generate a steady vacuum supply?
Aspirator? Electric vacuum pump? Any suggestions, and make/model info
would be appreciated so I can hunt around my local used parts emporium.

Thanks!
