Here's the latest revision of the Fordnatics charter. When Robert King
announces the details of his archive site, I'll add them.

Somehow the charter gets longer every time I work on it. I've tried to
keep the legalese to a minimum. Suggestions and comments are always
welcome.

The Fordnatics mailing list is an unmoderated forum for discussing Fords
or Ford-powered vehicles, especially technical topics related to
repairs, restoration, and performance modifications. It is available as
a "live" list or in digest form, compiled every weekday morning.

Appropriate topics include engines, drivetrains, suspensions, brakes,
tires, interiors, safety gear, chassis reinforcement, aerodynamics,
relevant sanctioning body rules, fabrication of parts, et cetera. All
years and models, from the Model T to the Mondeo, are fair game.
Questions from novices are encouraged. If you love cars, and you bleed
Ford blue, this is the place for you!

Please don't post about the following topics: aftermarket stereos,
anti-theft devices, Slick 50, TV coverage of races, Japan-bashing,
gratuitous Ford-bashing (Ford-bashing out of frustration is OK), or
(especially) Chevys. Please use the appropriate mailing lists or Usenet
newsgroups instead.

Private party want ads are welcomed. Appropriate items include
vehicles, parts, tools or supplies of interest to other Fordnatics
readers, car club events, etc. Pointers to commercial suppliers and
services are also welcomed. But please don't use this list to promote
your business.

New subscribers are invited to send an introductory message describing
their interest in Fords, and any initial questions they might have.

Send submissions to:

Send add/drop/administrative mail to:

ARCHIVES: The script that produces the Fordnatics digest also archives
each message as it arrives. At the moment I don't have any automated
way of searching the archives, however I can manually locate messages on
particular topics.

I also maintain a directory of Ford-related material which is accessible
via anonymous FTP at ftp.rahul.net, in directory pub/chucko/. Userid is
"anonymous", password is your email address. Your contributions are
welcome! Because of the price of storage on this account, I cannot
accept images, but I will be happy to upload any other Ford-related
information. To contribute, send me email. The Fordnatics archives
will be moved to the FTP site at some future date.

If you don't have direct Internet access, there is a service called
"ftpmail" which can retrieve files from arbitrary FTP sites and send
them to you via email. Send a message to (email redacted) with
the word "help" as the body of the message for more information.

ADMINISTRIVIA: The Fordnatics list is currently administered manually.
I will happily turn a blind eye to balky mailers, as long as the problem
appears temporary. If possible, I will contact the postmaster at a
balky site before removing someone from the list. If you don't see any
messages from the list for several days, drop me a note with an
alternate contact method (e.g. alternate email address, voice phone
number) and I'll contact you to help resolve the problem.

As the Fordnatics list is a voluntary service provided in my spare time,
I reserve the right to remove anyone from the Fordnatics list at any
time, for any reason. Normally I only do so in the event of delivery
problems.

LEGALESE: Messages seen on Fordnatics are the personal opinions of their
authors, and do not represent the official opinions or policies of any
organization or the Fordnatics list. In particular, NASA, NASA Ames
Research Center, and RECOM Technologies Inc. are not responsible for the
contents of Fordnatics messages.

Copyright on Fordnatics messages remains with the original author.
Private use and archiving of Fordnatics messages by subscribers is
expressly permitted. Redistribution of Fordnatics messages in any form
without the explicit consent of the author, in particular reposting on
other computer services or displaying product reviews to vendors, is
expressly forbidden. Redistribution without permission will result in
immediate and permanent removal from the list.
