First off, Happy New Year to all! I hope your holidays were pleasant,
and that Santa brought everyone the go-fast parts they wanted.

The Fordnatics list has had a steady stream of new subscribers through
the holidays. As of this writing we now have some 350 subscribers, and
still growing. Please keep this in mind as you write to the list. Now
more than ever we need to keep the signal-to-noise ratio high, so please
keep your posts to the point, and as brief as practical. A little humor
is always welcome, but try to keep the chatter down and the technical
content up.

When posting about your car, please remember that Fordnatics readers are
a diverse bunch, and mention the year and model. Mustangs are very
common, but around here that could mean *any* year Mustang, so please be
specific.

For those concerned about the future of the list, I have good news!
Karl Swartz, the moderator of sci.aeronautics.airliners, has offered the
use of his host as the new home of the Fordnatics mailing list. This
should all happen by month's end. I'll post the new addresses when
we're ready to roll.

At the same time, the list will move from manual administration to an
automated mailing list manager, specifically Majordomo. Majordomo is a
widely used, well-supported package which offers a number of options for
handling incoming messages. Given the recent spate of ads from
outsiders, I'm leaning towards a members-only list, where only
subscribers may post. Moderation is also an option (though not one I'm
eager to implement, as it means more work for me). If you have any
strong feelings on these topics, drop me a note.

I intend to set up a Fordnatics page on the World Wide Web before too
much longer. There is already a Ford WWW page with a link to my FTP
site, at mame.mu.oz.au/salman/Ford/fpage.html -- check this
out if you have a Web browser like Mosaic or Netscape. Keep in mind
it's in Australia, so be polite and don't abuse the bandwidth.

Enough administrivia. Let's talk Fords!
-- Chuck
