Hi Gary,
I have a 11 year old Police Crown Victoria with
110,000 miles on it. I'd be glad to go out with a stopwatch
and see what it can do. But I haven't calibrated its speedometer
for 60 mph. I've only pasted tags for 55 and 65 mph, the two
useful speeds out here.
Anyway, I assume that you are talking about the smaller
Crown Vic that has a 4.6 liter engine and looks like a big
Taurus. They're supposed to be much faster than my Crown Vic
ever was, even when it was young.
Maybe someone on the Fordnatics mailing list can help you.
I'll forward your letter to the list.
Good luck!
George

Can anyone give me a source for finding the 0-60 time for a Police
Equipped Ford Crown Victoria? I plan to use the figure to dispute
a speeding ticket in which my speed was measured by being followed
by a patrol car.
Thanks
Gary Gray

I don't have any 0-60 mph numbers for my 351W HO-equipped Crown Vic
police car. However it isn't very fast off the line as it is quite
heavy and the rear end gearing is high (i.e. numerically low).
(And that crappy 2bbl Variable Venturi feedback carburetor is no help
either. What was Ford thinking when they created that monstrosity?)
Like George, I've heard the 4.9L cars are faster. (But not if I
swapped a properly tuned 4bbl on to my car!)
